Tukino Ski Patrol

Patrol Duties

The patrol meets with the Tukino Skifield Manager at 08:30am each morning for a daily briefing and patrols the Tukino Skifield until after it closes at approximately 4:30pm. Patrollers normally get a short (lunch) break during the day.

While this may vary from day to day, normally 4 patrollers are on duty during the weekends (two on each tow).

Personal ski or snowboard and good cold/wet weather clothing in case of wet or cold conditions is required. Remember that you may be patrolling in conditions that are less than favourable.

The first Volunteer Ski Patrol training date for the 2011 ski season will the 25/26th of June 2011.

It is planned to put out the tow ropes this weekend and along with assisting in this task, training will be held for all patrollers in the use of the specilised equipment that we have available at Tukino. You will get a chance to work with the full time staff and get to know the ropes (no pun intended!) and how we operate at Tukino.

Throughout the season there will be customised training given to those patrollers who are training for specific NZQA Unit Standards along with "on the job training" each weekend for those patrollers who are rostered on duty.
